Moved the networking and server gear from the Office Cabinet to the basement Mechanical Room. Though I found and dragged out my Cisco XL 2924 managed switch many months ago, I'm still not using that, rather I am using the simple 8-port D-Link switch to tie things together at this point.
The equipment that stayed:
- Power-over-Ethernet power supply to provides 35V to the Rise Broadband outdoor dish-type antenna. I'm using the Office Extra #3 CAT5 cable to run from the Office Cabinet to the Wiring Closet, and since the CAT5 cable from the antenna comes to the Office Cabinet, I chose to keep this power supply in the cabinet, so that only that particular CAT5 cable had power applied. I didn't want to jumper/couple those cables together with power from the Wiring Closet in order to avoid a possible consequence of disconnection the coupler and plugging in a non-PoE device into that cable by mistake.
The equipment that moved:
- Grandstream ATA (provided by Rise Broadband)
- I have tied the #1 TEL port to the Panasonic PBX as Central Office Line 1 (CO1). This allows any analog phone to dial via the PBX to the outside world.
- TP-Link X21 Deco mesh-network router
- D-Link 8-port Ethernet switch
- HP t5740 main server (Humbaba), with two (2) external USB drives, plus one (1) external Toshiba USB drive
- HP t5740 media server (Jikininki), with one (1) external USB drive, plus four (4) external USB drives (for VIDEO), plus one (1) external USB drive (for MUSIC)
- Toshiba laptop POP3 mail server (Eligos)
