AK12 v3.0 Motherboard

This board's power section capacitors (12 in all) had started to bulge with several actually starting to leak. The board had started acting flaky in 2012 and finally refused to start in 2013. I removed this motherboard from the (short) LSMicro case and set it aside. Until now.

Needing to purchase some electronics supplies for other projects, I also ordered replacement capacitors for this system. I ordered (15) 2200uF 6.3v replacements.

When they arrived, I removed the old caps (which is harder than you think), using suction pump and solder wick. Finally, I was able to get all the through holes clear and installed the new capacitors. They are not an exact mechanical match, being slightly too narrow, however they mounted fine. After completing the soldering I cleaned the board.

With a minimal configuration with just a video card, and power supply I fired up the system. I couldn't get a response, then realized that there was no memory installed. I added a stick of 128MB RAM. Lo, it works!

Purchased as part of a set of components from LSMicro for assembly into a complete system.
