DD-WRT /
Linksys WRT56G v6
- Purchased 2014-05-14 from Deseret Industries with power adapter for $5.
- Factory firmware v1.02.2 (2007-06-07) installed, with MAC of 00:18:39:D9:6F:AB.
- 2MB ROM / 8MB RAM
- This router was upgraded 2014-05-14 to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) micro (SVN revision 14929), using the instructions given in the DD-WRT wiki:
- http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v5.0_&_5.1_&_6.0 (local copy)
- I 'built' a VXKiller bin file with the routers WAN address using vximgtoolgui.exe, saving it as WRT54Gv6_00-18-39-D9-6F-AB.bin. (I later learned that I had mistakenly put in a MAC address ending in ...:AC.)
- Flashed vxworks_prep_03.bin using the Linksys Firmware Upgrade GUI page. WAIT FIVE MINTUES!
- Now in Management Mode, I flashed the VXKiller bin file that I built in the first step. WAIT FIVE MINUTES!
- Then, using the TFTP mode, I flashed the DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) micro firmware. WAIT FIVE MINUTES!
- $ tftp -l dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic_r14929.bin -p 192.168.1.1
- It was after this process that I discovered that I had used the wrong MAC.
- http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v5.0_&_5.1_&_6.0 (local copy)
- 2014-05-20 Reverted to the Linksys factory firmware:
- Downloaded and flashed the VXWorks revert bin file using Administration GUI.
- Once back in Management mode, flashed the Linksys factory firmware bin file, v1.02.5 that I discovered on the web (local copy)
- 2014-06-01 again upgraded to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) micro (SVN revision 14929), using the instructions from the wiki, and with the correct MAC address.
- 2023-02-08 upgraded to DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 micro (11/03/20) using the previous DD-WRT GUI Administration interface.
