Fry's FR-300RTR A1

  • DD-WRT v3.0-r28598 std (12/24/15); was Factory firmware 1.00 (2009-09-16)
  • 4MB ROM / 32MB RAM
  • Purchased 2014-05-21 from Deseret Indsutries without power adapter for $5.
  • Rebranded D-Link DIR 615 E1
  • Manuafactured September 2009.
  • Factory firmware 1.00 (2009-09-16) installed, with MAC of 00:18:E7:F0:1D:51.
  • 2014-05-31: Opened the enclosure and found the manufacturing date. All chips are under close-fitting soldered-on shields. There appear to be both a 14-pin JTAG port and a 4-pin serial port on the PCB.
  • 2023-02-14: I attempted to install DD-WRT using the 44715 build using the instructions from the DD-WRT wiki. Sadly, the router did not accept the firmware upgrade as expected. Notes on the wiki suggest that it depends on the browser, that I should see a new page with a count from 1 to 100% showing, but this did not happen. Further notes suggest trying a different browser. I tried Opera 46, Opera 12, Chrome <something>, latest Windows 10 Edge and Internet Explorer, and even Firefox 30. No success.
  • 2023-02-24: Successfully updated to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/16/10) std - build 14815 using the 'factory to dd-wrt' firmware file from machine 'profile' running Windows XP SP3 and Opera 12.18.
  • 2023-02-26: Unsuccessful attempt to upgrade to DD-WRT r44715. The unit accepted the firmware, rebooted, then cycled in a loop where the power and status lights would flash, then the LAN port lights would flash, and repeat, and I got no response when attempting to communicate to the device. I went through the 'factory to dd-wrt' firmware upgrade process to reload the r14815 build.
  • 2023-02-26: Successfully updated to DD-WRT v3.0-r28598 std (12/24/15) using the DD-WRT GUI on the Administration/FrimwareUpgrade tab.
