Entry Gate Wiring
There are two distinct CAT5 cables to the gate from the mechanical room:
- GATE (#1) CAT5 cable runs from the wiring closet to the buried round sprinkler box behind gate pillar.
- (2025-03-28) Used the toner from the wiring closet and found it in the sprinkler box. This is the WHITE cable. It is NOT terminated at this time.
- GATE EXTRA (#2) CAT5 cable runs from the wiring closet to the gate mechanism enclosure.
- (2026-03-29) Used toner from wiring closet to confirm. Presently NOT terminated.

Additional investigation has resulted in a better understanding of the wiring at the gate
- GATE CAMERA (#1) This is a WHITE-sheathed cable carrying four (4) heavier (14-guage?) wires which run from the control box to the Pelco camera enclosure:
- White: 12V (?) currently disconnected in the control box
- Black: GROUND (?) currently disconnected in the control box
- Red: N/C
- Green: N/C
- Gate Mechanism Control Box
- BLACK CAT5 cable (from keypad + DoorFon)
- Brown/BrownWhite: 12v terminal
- Green/GreenWhite: relay switch
- Orange/OrangeWhite: N/C
- Blue/BlueWhite: DoorFon terminal, N/C
- GRAY CAT5 cable to GATE EXTRA in mechanical room (N/C)
- GRAY CAT3 cable from Buried Junction Box #2 ????
- Blue/BlueWhite: (N/C)
- Orange/Orange/White: (N/C)
- WHITE-sheathed heavy cable (-> Junction Box #1 -> Pelco camera (power))
- White (disconnected from 12V terminal strip)
- Black (disconnected from 12V terminal strip)
- Red (N/C)
- Green (N/C)
- Individual heave-guage wires (-> Junction Box #1 -> Keypad):
- GREEN (N/C)
- PURPLE (N/C)
- BLACK CAT5 cable (from keypad + DoorFon)
- GATE KEYPAD (#1)
- BLACK CAT5 cable runs from keypad to Gate Mechanism control box:
- Brown(-)/Brown-White(+): 12v power from control box to keypad
- Green/Green-White: Relay from keypad to control box
- Orange/Orange-White: N/C
- Blue(-)/Blue-White(+): DoorFon intercom to control box (disconnected at present); appears that it 'should' connect to the Gray CAT5 (? that goes to the house mechanical room?)
- Individual GREEN and PURPLE heavy (14-guage?) wires, N/C
- BLACK CAT5 cable runs from keypad to Gate Mechanism control box:
- Buried Junction Box #1 To the East of the keypad pillar is a round buried 'Electrical' junction box (like a sprinkler valve box):
- A WHITE-sheathed cable with heavy (14-guage?) wires from the control box that are wire-nutted to a similar cable that simply descends into the soil; this is the wiring to the Pelco Camera (confirmed by tone generator)
- A BLACK coax(?) that comes from the left-conduit and descends into the ground and is probably the camera video feed to the house mechanical room
- a pass-through (no junction) of a BLACK CAT5(?) from left-conduit (from keypad) to right-conduit (to control box)
- a pass-through (no junction) of a pair of GREEN and PURPLE heavy wires from left-conduit (from keypad, N/C) to right-conduit (to control box, N/C)
- Buried Junction Box #2 To the North (behind) keypad pillar (like a sprinkler valve box):
- BLACK CAT5 from right-conduit descends to soil, buried, (comes up into keypad pillar behind keypad)
- Heavy GREEN wire: from right-conduit, to soil, (comes up into keypad pillar behind keypad)
- Heave PURPLE wire: from right-conduit, to soil, (comes up into keypad pillar behind keypad)
- GRAY(WHITE?) CAT5 cable: from right-conduit, coiled bare end (not terminated) connects to GATE terminal in mechanical room
- GRAY CAT5(CAT3?) cable: from right-conduit, coiled bare end (not terminated)

- Alumilite Inc., S62 bulb, 70W, 120V (model: CL-107S-120/1F/BZ confirmed from hand-label inside one unit (also "980943"))
- to fixture connections:
- Ground - housing ground screw
- White - fixture white + black
- Black - fixture yellow + black

Having received a pair of Antaira EVC-3101 VDSL2 point-to-point bridge units from eBay this past week, I rigged up a temporary connection between the basement wiring closet and the gate enclosure using CAT5 cable "GATE EXTRA". This setup was successful, with fast speeds (50 Mbps download) and (15 Mbps upload) using online speed test side Fast.com:
- At wiring closet:
- "GATE EXTRA", Brown pair, connected to to extension wire terminating in a male RJ11 plug module on the center pins 3 and 4
- Connected the RJ11 plug to an Antaira EVC-3101, with DIP switches 1-4 all ON (CO)
- Connected an RJ45 terminated CAT5 cable between the Antaira EVC-3101 and the local Ethernet switch
- At gate enclosue:
- "GATE EXTRA", Brown pair, terminated in a female RJ11 socket
- Connected a single-pair RJ11 phone cable between the RJ11 socket and the VDSL socket on the other Antaira EVC-3101, with DIP switch 1 OFF (CPE), 3-4 ON
- connected an RJ45 terminated CAT5 cable between a spare TP-Link DECO mesh access point to the Antaira EVC-3101

- (RE)Installed the ON/OFF switch on with wiring closet wall that is labeled "GATE", using the Green pair from "GATE EXTRA" CAT5 cable. At the gate controller, I connected the Green pair to the "hold open" terminals. It works!
- Ordered a Zooz ZEN017 Z-wave dual-relay control from eBay for $35. When it arrives I will replace the "GATE" ON/OFF switch with this unit, which will give me the ability to open the gate from the Security System's Tuxedo WiFi panels at the front door and the garage door. This unit also has two (2) sensing circuits, one of which could be connected using another pair to allow the sensing of gate position, physically 'open' or 'closed'.
