Kitchen/Patio Screen Door

  • I replaced the screen in the door
    • removed the old screen from the door frame, which had been installed such that it had wracked the frame into a trapezoidal shape, no longer rectangular; couldn't be closed or latched
    • taped the frame to the basement floor to square it up
    • installed new screen and spline, using a 'spline tool' to press the spline into the groove, holding the screen in the groove
      • MD Vinyl 0.14 inch spline (25ft)
      • MD "Crystal Clear" screen (48in x 25ft)
  • Landscaping
    • "Preston" of Changing Seasons arrived at 2PM
    • With Rebecca, talked about possibilities for cleanup, pruning, sprinkler adjustments, planting new shrubs and flowers, etc.
    • Preston will prepare a proposal and send it over probably the week after next
    • Preston will connect us with his son Austin that runs Bio-Logic lawn care for possible mowing service, and lawn care service

Propane Equipment

  • "John" of Suburban Propane arrived at 12:25PM
    • He performed an 'anode' test of each of the five tanks. All checked out with fine readings.
    • He discovered a tiny leak in fittings on the reduction valve at the entry point to the shop (generator)
    • He discovered a tiny leak in fittings on the reduction valve at the entry point to the house
    • He repaired both leaks by loosening the fittings, applying the 'blue bond' sealant and re-tightening the fittings
    • He check all indoor boilers, appliances and gas fireplaces, finding everything okay, no leaks
  • There was no charge for this service, part of being a customer

Honeywell Vista security alarm system

  • I purchased replacement backup batteries for the system at BatteriesPlus in Pocatello (5Ah and 7Ah 12 volt, small spade lugs)
  • installed the batteries

Radon Mitigation

  • "Randy" and "Mario" arrived at 8:45AM to complete the markings/labeling of the system, and install the permanent vacuum gauge.
    • Installed information and warning stickers to the outdoor fan and piping
    • Installed information and warning stickers to the indoor piping at the point it emerges from the basement slab
    • Installed label on breaker panel's dedicated circuit breaker in the crawlspace for the fan

A/C systems

  • "Sebastian" from First Call Jewel arrived at about 11:30AM to accomplish planned repairs to A/C systems
    • Replaced motor start-up capacitor in the basement heater unit (green floored mechanical room)
    • Replaced dual start-up capacitors in each of the outdoor condenser units
    • Replaced missing foam insulation on all four external vapor/return pipes
    • Replaced faulty contactor switch in the south main-level outdoor condenser unit

Lawn Mow - first of season

  • "Thomas Garcia" arrived at 1:45PM with "Catalino (Cat)" and his new helper "Matthew"
    • Mowed and trimmed all grass areas surrounding the house
    • Mowed southerly slope
    • Mowed both sides of drive to the gate approximately 5 feet on either side of the asphalt

Window blinds

  • spoke with "Candice" at SelectBlinds.com about our delayed order
    • Learned that up/down blinds can no longer be sold with pull cords (new law to protect children and pets)
    • Confirmed that ordered up/down pull cord blinds will be converted to cordless up/down
