  • Removed keypad assembly from pillar, then disassembled the entire unit: removed the main PCBs 3 screws, then the backplate holding the keypad, then the keypad PCB from the keys. Under each key is a tiny blue-colored LED, some burned out, some burning low intensity. I have chosen two possible replacements: Amber, and Blue.
  • I first removed the burned out #1 LED and temporarily fitted a blue replacement. Looked good, intensity full. Then fitted an amber LED. Looked great, intensity good, Decided to use amber LEDs so that the keypad would look good along with the yellow gate box lights and post lights, instead of the, to me harshly, contrasting blue color.
  • After getting the knack down of removing the old surface mount LEDs and fitting the new ones, the process went smoothly taking me about two hours. All LEDs are same intensity now and look great.
  • Reassembled the whole keypad unit, then reinstalled in the pillar housing. All buttons beep when pressed except # and I'm not sure if that key beeped before or not.
