Thermador Main Oven Repair
- After reviewing schematic and the official service manual I felt that I should be able to figure out what main oven component is broken that causes the oven to continually heat up, even after Mr. Appliance's thermostat replacement. Using the service manual I did the following:
- switched off Oven Breaker in pump room
- removed the toe kick plate, revealing the ovens' electrical components
- tested the Hot-Wire relays:
- Proof Oven relay had a broken lead from the capacitor to the R terminal; I resoldered it. Found a resistance of 1.6k ohms between R and S (not the less than 1 ohm as suggested by the service manual)
- Main Oven relay also tested showing 1.7k ohm resistance between R and S
- tested the timers:
- Proof Oven timer showed about 17M ohms between the two Load terminals (not less than 1 ohm as suggested by the service manual)
- Main Oven timer showed about 16.5M ohms between the two Load terminals
- tested the Hi-Temp breakers
- Proof Oven, checked okay; reset button not extended; pressed the reset button anyway
- Main Oven, checked okay; reset button not extended; pressed the reset button anyway
- re-installed each component as it was tested, and re-connected all wires, which had been removed for testing.
- After testing and re-connection of all wires, switched on power at the breaker panel
- Interestingly(!), the Main Oven was tested just for grins. Lo! It works!
- Perhaps the disconnection and re-connection of each of the wires had something to do with it.

Ashley BA - Kohler Shower Faucet Cartridge replacement (from eBay)
- Removed handle by unscrewing the shaft sleeve, then the handle, then the nylon spline coupler, the spline and shaft housing.
- Removed cover plate
- Removed x2 machine screws from retaining ring, and the retaining ring
- Removed the old cartridge, and the hot/cold pressure balancer
- Found and removed a balancer O-ring from brass valve housing, cleaning the hot and cold water entry points
- Using plumbers silicone grease, installed x2 small O-rings to rear of the new balancer, x2 medium O-rings to the rear ports on cartridge, and large O-ring on new cartridge
- Installed new balancer and cartridge into brass housing, securing with new ring and machine screws
- NOTE: cartridge can be installed upside-down, which reverses the hot and cold flows. Check that the small flat tab on the cartridge is facing upward
- Re-installed coverplate, shaft housing, spline, spline coupler, and the handle
